Oliver and Paco Calza became regulars at Fresco Cafe Italiano, where Chef Roberto Crescini’s house-made pasta and generous hospitality made the little restaurant feel like a second home. Meals turned into friendship, and Roberto’s cooking became their connection to the traditions and everyday warmth of Italy.

Fresco later appeared on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, but the lessons Oliver and Paco remember most happened across the table. One night, Roberto hurried over when Paco added Parmesan to linguine with clams and explained the Italian custom of keeping cheese away from delicate seafood.
